A Showcase of Skill, Strength, and Strategy – Highlights from the 3rd Double Gold Invitational

This past Saturday, I had the privilege of covering the third installment of the Double Gold Invitational, an exciting jiu-jitsu event led by artist and practitioner Ando Heppner. Ando and his team aim to showcase jiu-jitsu as an art form, and with this Renaissance-themed evening, they achieved it in spectacular fashion.

The Renaissance theme set a powerful tone for the night. Early on, the action hit an unexpected high when Colton Folliard delivered an intense slam, sending his opponent into the intricate art display surrounding the stage. This impactful moment, followed by a brief pause to repair the setup, added an authentic, rugged charm to the atmosphere—a true Renaissance revival of the fighting arts.

As the matches continued, the event highlighted a broad spectrum of skills and styles, featuring top-tier talent from both local and national scenes. Fighters such as Mateusz Lim, David Garcia, Jason Roberts, Mando Gutierrez, Blake Klassman, and Michael Santiago brought their best, making this installment of the Double Gold Invitational a must-watch for any jiu-jitsu fan.
